FAQs: Displaying Help files in Windows Vista (or later)
When using a machine that is running Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, or Windows 8 or 10, PTW might be unable to display the help file (giving an error that says "Failed to launch help"). This is because, starting with Windows Vista, Microsoft stopped including the WinHlp32 program.
It has produced a patch to fix this - I cannot open Help that was created in the Windows Help format (WinHlp32.exe). (Link opens an external site)
Alternatively (in PTW V7.0R1.9 or later), PTW has the option to use HTML help instead of Win Help. This can be selected using Project>>Options>>Application>>On-Line Help.
From version V8.0, only html help files are used. If you are using PTW version V8.0 and cannot open a help file, please contact us.
